S1608 is a 15.88 mm (≈16 mm) high-performance planar PDC cutter, composed of a micron-grade diamond layer and a high-strength tungsten carbide substrate, sintered under ultra-high temperature and pressure (1400–1600°C, 5–6 GPa). It features a 2.1 mm diamond thickness, 0.4 mm chamfer, and 8.0 mm total height. Made from 99.9% high-purity micron diamond powder and ultra-fine grain WC-Co carbide (6–8% cobalt) for balanced hardness, toughness, and thermal conductivity.

HPHT Sintering

Sintered at 1500°C, 5.5 GPa to form a metallurgical bond between diamond and carbide—no weak layers, no delamination, bonding strength ≥2.5 GPa.

Q: What is the difference between S1608 and S1613?

A: S1608 has 8 mm total height and 2.1 mm diamond layer, optimized for soft–medium-hard, low–medium abrasive formations with high cost performance. S1613 has 13.2 mm total height and 2.4 mm diamond layer, for medium-hard–hard, highly abrasive formations with longer life and higher price.

Q: What are the recommended WOB and RPM ranges?

A: WOB 15–30 kN per cutter, RPM 80–150 RPM. Use low WOB + high RPM for soft mudstone; high WOB + low RPM for medium-hard sandstone. Maintain mud flow 20–30 L/min for sufficient cooling.

Q: How to judge when the cutter fails and needs replacement?

A: Replace if: ① Diamond wear ≥0.5 mm, dull cutting edge, obvious ROP drop; ② Chipping ≥1 mm, severe vibration; ③ Delamination/cracks, abnormal high temperature.

Q: What is the maximum operating temperature for S1608?

A: The cutter can continuously work up to 700°C without delamination or graphitization. For higher temperature wells, choose our high-temperature customized version.

Q: Can S1608 be reconditioned after wear?
